Travel From Home: Welsh Cakes from England

Right now we are all inside finding different ways to spend our time. My family loves to travel so we decided to use some of this time to travel from home. I don't know about you but one of my favorite parts of traveling is getting to try the food of a different culture. Food for me is one of the best ways to really understand a culture. 

Being a huge fan of all forms of British storytelling, I decided to start in England. I found a recipe for Welsh Cakes (www.allrecipes.com/recipe/11020/welsh-cakes) that seemed easy enough for me to try at home with the ingredients I had in the house. The only change that I made was using all butter instead of lard. 

We had such an amazing time making these treats. Any recipes that requires us to break out the rolling pin is a win with my kids. Baking with kids is a fun way to give them a better understanding if units and measurements too.
